Hilton Head National RV Resort Bluffton, South Carolina

Are you looking for a fun vacation getaway?! Look no further than Hilton Head Island, South Carolina! Back in 2021 Hilton Head national RV resort opened and we found our new favorite place. This isn't camping this is glamping at its finest!! This resort  has full hook up sites with cable, a pool, lazy river, amazing play ground, tiki bar, on site restaurant and so much more!! There is so much to do at this resort you are not going to want to leave.

Once you pull into Hilton Head National RV you will check in and then be escorted through the gates by one of the wonderful employees to your campsite. Here they will help you back in and answer any questions that you might have. All of the sites at Hilton Head National RV are full hook up and they are HUGE!!They even offer buddy sites so you can camp with your best friend or family members. Once you are situated and hooked up head over to the on site restaurant, Billie Mac's, to grab a pizza, burger, salad or something to drink! We loved the Pina Coladas while we were there. One of the things that had changed from our 2022 to our 2023 was the introduction of cards that gave you access to everything. Last year when we had gone the cards opened the gates to allow you to get in and out of the resort. This trip I forgot my card a couple of time and ended up needing to go back to get it so I could get into where I needed to be.

We do need to acknowledge Rangers favorite part of the Hilton Head National and that is the Dog Park. There are two dog parks, one for dogs under 40lbs and one for dogs over 40lbs. Just a heads up, large dogs aren't allowed in the small dog park but small dogs are allowed in the large dog park. Ranger can get a little skittish around small dogs so there were a couple time that we had to leave. Ranger would regularly take us too the dog park 3-5x a day. Right next to the dog park was her least favorite activity, but if you are going to play hard then we need to get cleaned up. They have 2 wash basins. One for large dogs (there is a ramp but Ranger refused so I had to lift all 80lbs of her) and a small one for small breads, dog soap is not available so make sure to bring your own. Hilton Head National RV probably has some of the best bath houses I have ever seen. While you are there you might need to do laundry, there is a nice size laundry room near the dog park.

If you are over 21 and are traveling without children check out Waters Edge!! This is an adult only section with a pool, hot tub and free laundry. We didn't get to check this out for the obvious reasons but it truly looks amazing!

Lets start with everyone's favorite or not favorite thing to do, Food shopping. You have a great selection of grocery stores. Within a 15 minute radius you have a Wal-mart, Sam's club, Aldi, Target, Food Lion, Kroger, Publix and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. There is also a farmers market in Old Town Blufftown every Thursday morning. You will also find a lot of Starbucks along the way.  I did find a couple but the one closest to the campground the drive though looked tight and I didn't want to chance it.

Are you looking for something to do besides swimming and floating in the lazy pool? Here is where it gets fun!! Head to Coligney beach,  Harbourtown, Old Town Bluffton, or take a walk to the Tanger outlets. Don't forget to check out the local areas and try some of the good food. We did want to go to Java Burrito but time and weather, mostly weather, just weren't on our side this trip. One of the nice things about the area was the availability of different Starbucks location. It made for one happy camping mama.

If you are in Coligney make sure to stop at Piggly Wiggy for a koozie or a t-shirt, grab some ice cream and walk around. This is where we found Adventure Island for the kids. Be sure to pack and extra outfit and some water shoes for them (dogs are not allowed in the play ground area). There are a lot of good spots to eat down there as well. Flatbreads bar and grill looked awesome but the kids were done and wanted to head back so that they could go swimming. Flatbreads did have outdoor seating availalbe and we even saw some pups enjoying a nice bowl of ice water there.

What we didn't realize when we decided to go to Harbourtown was that the PGA tournament was taking place that week. This is the 2nd year we have gone and the second year that we have been met with the tournament and the traffic that it brought to the area. Now, we did attempt to take our truck to Harbourtown since we had the kids, stroller, diaper bag, and Ranger. Because of the tournament you had to take a shuttle down which was nice since parking in Harbourtown looked like it could be difficult with the truck with the tournament going on. The shuttle was a big charter bus and they were even able to get the stroller underneath without me needing to fold it which was nice. Once we were in Habourtown we decided to get some food at the Crazy Crab. It was delicious and kid friendly, however, we were unable to tell if this location was dog friendly since there didn't appear to be out side seating.

Lets talk about dining overall outside of the resort. There are so many amazing options most of them are kid friendly. We went to the Crazy Crab in Harbourtown and it was great. There were some more dining options but we really wanted seafood. There is also a salty dog cafe but due to needing to take the shuttle we missed this but we do have plans to go in the future.

On our one rainy day we went to Skullcreek Dockside. This restaurant might have been one of my favorites. The views were amazing, service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Skullcreek does have a couple of different restaurants and when we went it looked like they were maybe adding a market. There are a ton of great places to eat down there! We also like Fishcamp and they had a great tuna poke bowl, great service and if I remember correctly they are furry friend friendly. Hopefully on our next trip the weather cooperates a little bit more and we can show you some more of our favorite places to eat.

If you are traveling with Kids accidents and illnesses are prone to happen! There are plenty of urgent cares in the area! Thankfully we didn't need any of them but I'm pretty sure that we saw at least 3!!

We hope that this helps everyone trying to plan a trip to the area. Please feel free to message with any questions.
